Members of The Sierra Leone Association attended the Halloween party and fundraiser hosted by the Jefferson City West Rotary Club. All proceeds from the fundraising go toward building a well for Margaret's Orphanage in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The association presented a check for $2000.00 to help make this project a reality for the very needy children of this Orphanage. The representatives of the association in the photo are (from left to right) Haroun and Edith kamara, Bernard and Jacqueline Collier, William and Alisa Buck and Magnus and Felicia John. Not shown in photo is Mr. Daniel Opara. The well project should be completed in 2016.

2014 marks the 20th celebration of the Sierra Leone Association of Jefferson City. As we look back, we give praise and thanks to God for his continued guidance and direction to the leaders in particular and also members of the association over the past years. Fortunately, all of our founding members are still in Missouri though some have relocated to Columbia and St. Louis. The Association continues to grow stronger; membership improved during the past 5 years which enabled us to engage in other community service but support for the scholarship program in Sierra Leone is still our main focus. This too has also expanded to include assistance to an orphanage in Grafton. Several activities are planned to celebrate this milestone including an 'awujor' on August, 30. Despite the icy winter weather with icy roads in Jefferson city, the Sierra Leone Association Choir travelled to St. Louis on Sunday February 2, to kick off black history month celebration at Ascension Episcopal Church. Dressed in our native costumes, the choir accompanied by the talented Miss Cailyn Buck on the piano, rendered 2 songs in Krio and ended the service with the association thank you song 'tell am tenke'. The service was followed by a dinner at the Parish Hall.
On Sunday, October 20, 2013 the Sierra Leone Association, Jefferson City, had its 15th annual Thanksgiving Service at Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Rev. Dr. Marc Smith of Ascension Episcopal Church delivered the sermon. The Sierra Leone Association Choir rendered 2 songs and the House of Refuge Choir also performed. The first lesson was read by Bernard Collier while Kemoh Gbekpa read the second lesson. A potluck dinner followed at the parish hall. Thanksgiving Moments
